Internet session links do not open an Internet session in Chrome

Overview

This article provides brief information and ways to resolve the issue when Internet session links do not open an Internet session in Chrome. 

After downloading an agent in Chrome, the Internet Session link does not automatically start the agent and connect to the Internet Session.

Environment

  • ​​DameWare Remote Support versions 11.0 or later
  • DameWare Mini Remote Control versions 11.0 or later

Cause

The agent download includes a new protocol handler so the browsers know to open the DameWare agent. Chrome does not acknowledge new protocol handlers until it is restarted.

Resolution

The following are ways to resolve the issue:

  • Restart Chrome.
  • Open the Internet Session link in a different browser.
  • Restart the computer.
