Overview

In SolarWinds Platform, users may encounter an issue where applying multiple filter conditions in the Top Capacity Problems Widget does not function as expected. Specifically, when using a filter with an OR condition, the widget only returns results that match the second condition instead of both.

Example Scenario:

A user applies the following filter in the Top XX Capacity Problems Widget:

Nodes.Caption LIKE 'XXX%' OR Nodes.Caption LIKE 'YYY%'
  • Expected Behavior: The widget should display results for nodes with names starting with both XXX and YYY.
  • Actual Behavior: The widget only returns results for nodes with names starting with YYY.

Cause

The issue is caused by the Top Capacity Problems Widget not correctly interpreting the OR operator in filter conditions. As a result, only the second condition is applied, filtering out results that should match the first condition.

Resolution

A fix for this issue is included in SolarWinds Platform 2025.4. Consider upgrading your environment. If you can't upgrade, use the workaround below.

Workaround:

To temporarily resolve the issue, modify the filter by wrapping the OR condition in parentheses, as shown below:

(Nodes.Caption LIKE 'XXX%' OR Nodes.Caption LIKE 'YYY%')

This adjustment ensures that the filter logic is correctly processed, returning results for both conditions as expected.

Permanent Fix:

A permanent resolution is currently not available. The issue has been logged as a known bug and is being reviewed by the development team. Future updates and fixes will be documented in the Release Notes of upcoming SolarWinds Platform versions.
