This article explains how to resolve the recorder compatibility error encountered when configuring the Web Performance Monitor (WPM) recorder on an Additional Polling Engine (APE) after upgrading to version 2025.4.

Overview

After upgrading to WPM 2025.4, users may encounter the following error on the Additional Polling Engine:
“The recorder is not compatible with the SolarWinds Platform. To save recordings to the SolarWinds Platform, download the compatible version of the recorder.”

This occurs despite updating the recorder to the latest version. The root cause is that the Additional Polling Engine does not have the updated recorder files required to function correctly with the SolarWinds Platform.

Cause

The Additional Polling Engine lacks the updated recorder executable files that are present on the main polling engine after the upgrade. This mismatch causes the compatibility error when trying to save recordings.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, manually copy the updated recorder files from the main polling engine to the Additional Polling Engine:

  1. Navigate to their SolarWinds Platform installation folder on the main poller machine (by default:
