SolarWinds Platform Web Console error: no endpoint listening at net.tcp://localhost:17777/SolarWinds/InformationService/Orion/ssl

An error saying ther is no endpoint lisening for InformationService/Orion/ssl is observed in the web console or log files.

Overview

An error similar to the following is observed in a log file or returned as a website error:

Error: There was no endpoint listening at net.tcp://localhost:17777/SolarWinds/InformationService/Orion/ssl that could accept the message.

This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.

Cause

This error may be the result of either of the following conditions:

  • SolarWinds Information Service is not running.
  • You have created a custom property that has the same name as a reserved property. 
  • Corrupted performance counters. 
    To determine if this is the case, submit a technical support ticket and provide SolarWinds Diagnostics.
    Also, please refer to Microsoft's KB: How to manually rebuild Performance Counter Library values 
  • An incomplete or improper installation of the SolarWinds Information Service (SWIS). This error is usually corrected with a repair of the SolarWinds Platform.

Resolution

Restart the SolarWinds Information Service.

  1. Start the SolarWinds Platform Service Manager by clicking Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Platform > SolarWinds Platform Service Manager.
  2. Select the SolarWinds Information Service items, and click Restart.

If the issue persists, repair the SolarWinds Platform:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program.
  2. Click SolarWinds Platform, and then click Repair.
  3. Click Yes to confirm repair.
  4. Complete the Configuration Wizard.

The error does not occur any more.
