Compatibility of SolarWinds Platform products for installation and upgrade and End of Life Support

Overview

The SolarWinds Platform Products Installer provides an easy-to-follow installation path. The installer checks for product updates, and then presents the installation steps to complete complex upgrades and installations with ease. No need to figure out your upgrade path before you begin - the installer does it for you.

If you have older versions of products, you can still use this installer for upgrade paths, download links, and links to release notes.

When you upgrade products with the SolarWinds Platform Product installer, the installer automatically ensures that your SolarWinds Platform products (previously Orion Platform products) are upgraded to the same version.  If you have the following product versions or later, you can use the SolarWinds Platform Installer to upgrade them:

  • Engineers Web Toolset 11.0
  • EOC 2.0
  • IPAM 4.3.0
  • LA (formerly Log Manager) 1.0
  • NAM/NOM 2017.3
  • NCM 7.5
  • NPM 12.0
  • NTA 4.2
  • SAM 6.2.4
  • SCM 1.0
  • SRM 6.3
  • UDT 3.2.2
  • VMAN 6.3
  • VNQM 4.2.3
  • WPM 2.2

If you have earlier versions of these products, you must upgrade them individually until you reach a version that can be upgraded with the SolarWinds Platform Installer. Due to the interoperability between SolarWinds Platform products, you sometimes have to upgrade your products in a specific sequence. Older versions of these products have a varying range of compatibility with the newer versions. 

Overview to upgrade older SolarWinds Platform (Orion) products:

  1. Determine the highest version of NPM that is compatible with the current versions of all your products.
  2. Consult the NPM upgrade path to see if you can upgrade from your current version of NPM to this highest version.
  3. Upgrade to the highest version of NPM as possible.
  4. Determine the highest versions of your products that are still compatible with your current version of NPM.
  5. Upgrade to those versions.
  6. Repeat the steps until you have upgraded all products to the desired versions.

After installing each version of the product in your upgrade path, you must also run the configuration wizard before continuing to the next version.

If you have multiple Platform products installed but NPM is not one of them, use the upgrade path recommended by the SolarWinds Platform Installer.
