Question:

Why is network discovery taking so long to complete?

Resolution:

Large ranges of IP addresses are being searched Subnet masks incorrectly are reported or configured in SNMP-enabled devices A long search timeout is configured in LANsurveyor (the timeout can be adjusted using the Mapping Speed slider in the New Network Map dialog or by selecting Tools>Options>Network and decreasing the "Search query timeout" value)

Mapping of managed switch/hub ports is enabled (port mapping can be disabled by unchecking the "Map switch/hub ports" option

Large numbers of subnets are being searched - Try breaking up the discovery into smaller subnet ranges
