If LANsurveyor is hanging during network discovery, this is usually caused by an SNMP-enabled device on your network returning unexpected responses to SNMP queries. LANsurveyor does its best to recover from malformed or unexpected SNMP results but sometimes gets caught in a loop that results in the hang.
It's usually fairly easy for SolarWinds to correct such looping problems. When such a hang occurs, please do the following:
Start LANsurveyor
Select Tools>Options>Logging
Check the following three options: "SNMP agent communication", "IP autodiscovery" and "Networking"
Try building a new map.
When LANsurveyor hangs and before you try to start LANsurveyor again, create a support ticket at http://www.solarwinds.com/support and include the "LANsurveyor Log.txt" file (which is located in the LANsurveyor application folder, e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\SolarWinds\SolarWinds LANsurveyor). |
