ipMonitor - Installation, Setup, or Licensing

Question:

How much hard drive space does ipMonitor use on my server?

Resolution:

For each configured monitor, ipMonitor generates and stores approximately 2 KB of statistical data per day.

This means that:

  • In one month, a 500 Monitor installation generates about 31,000 KB (or 30.2 MB) of statistical data.
  • In one year, a 500 Monitor installation generates about 365,000 KB (or 0.34 GB) of statistical data.
Note: The above calculations assume that statistics storage is enabled for all monitors in your ipMonitor installation. The calculations also assume that all monitors are configured to use default timing parameters, and are testing the resource every five minutes. Modifications to the timing parameters or to the number of monitors currently generating statistics alter the overall size of the database.

The size of the database files is very small, and as such, they will not require much disk space. However, special care must be taken in regards to the drive space consumption when the Report Publisher is set to publish Reports under the .\wwwroot\saved folder.

The following example shows a daily report containing a mix of various monitors polling every 5 minutes. The Report Publisher is set to refresh every 15 minutes.
  • In one month, a 500 monitor basic report generates about 73,000 KB (or 71.3 MB) of statistical data.
  • In one year, a 500 monitor basic report generates about 860,000 KB (or 0.81 GB) of statistical data.
