How do I back up or move SolarWinds Toolset and preserve all my settings and history?


Resolution:

To back up SolarWinds Toolset settings and history:

  1. Locate your SolarWinds Toolset program directory.
    Toolset VersionDirectory
    Version 2001C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\200X Engineers Edition
    Version 5, 7, or 8C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Engineers Edition
    Version 9 or laterC:\Program Files\SolarWinds\Engineer's Toolset
  2. Back up or copy the following files:
    Standard EditionTraceRoute.cfg, WatchIt.cfg
    Professional EditionTraceRoute.cfg, WatchIt.cfg, Bandwidth-Monitor.cfg, Network-Monitor.cfg, DHCP-Scope-Monitor.cfg, IP-Address-Management.IPDB, Syslog.mdb
    Professional Plus EditionTraceRoute.cfg, WatchIt.cfg, Bandwidth-Monitor.cfg, Network-Monitor.cfg, DHCP-Scope-Monitor.cfg, IP-Address-Management.IPDB, Syslog.mdb
    Engineers EditionTraceRoute.cfg, WatchIt.cfg, Bandwidth-Monitor.cfg, Syslog.mdb, Network-Monitor.cfg, DHCP-Scope-Monitor.cfg, IP-Address-Management.IPDB, SWNetPerfMon.cfg, Advanced-CPU-Load.CPUDB, *SNMP-Graph

To restore these configuration and database files:

Place these files in the same directory as the SolarWinds application executables. The exceptions are the IP-Address-Management.IPDB, Advanced-CPU-Load.CPUDB, and *SNMP-Graph files; these files you can copy to any location.

Place toolset version 10 files in the following directory: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolarWinds
