Web Console

Question:

Why can I not see charts or maps from the web console? I see an 'X' where the charts and maps should be.

Resolution:

One or both of the following issues may affect your ability to see charts or maps from the web console:

  • The Orion software was installed incorrectly with user settings instead of system settings.
  • The Orion web console web site does not have the necessary permissions to access the charts or maps.

Was Orion installed incorrectly with user settings?

Orion can be installed incorrectly with user settings if:

  • the Orion software was installed with Terminal Services under Application server mode
    -or-
  • the Orion software was installed on Windows 2003 with the operating system set to Application server mode.

To check if your Orion software was installed incorrectly with user settings:

  1. Search for the file SNMPv61.ocx.
  2. If the file is located in the My Documents folder, your Orion software has been installed incorrectly.

To correct this, uninstall the Orion software, and then reinstall it. Make sure to avoid the two scenarios described earlier.

Does the web site have correct access permissions?

The Windows account Orion uses for the web site must have Administrator-level access rights.
